I’m here today with a fun preview into an awesome teen dance photography session that I recently had with the sweet (and talented!) Kyra. Kyra is 12 years old (almost 13) and has been dancing now for four years. Since she started when she was eight, she worked very hard to get to the point where she is at right now. She practiced, and went to the dance studio four days a week, and all her hard work and determination has paid off, because she was just approved to advance into ballet pointe shoes.
She has been very dedicated to dance, and took all genres, from tap, jazz, hip hop and acro, to pre-pointe, ballet, and contemporary. She loves everything about the Eisenhower Dance Center, which is a good thing I suppose, since she practically lives there! She is a member of the My Move dance company, and next year she will be in Collage. Being so actively involved in the dance scene has been such a great experience for her; it’s paid off through her performances at The Macomb Center for Performing Arts, Varner Hall at Oakland University, and even a special performance this year at The Detroit Opera House.
I love the poise and dedication that dance classes teach to children. It really gives them a goal to work towards, and allows them to showcase their creativity. I really also believe that is builds confidence, as well as having command on the stage and an audience. It’s great watching her dance and meet the goals that she has for herself. The young teen/tween-age years are such a fun and exciting time in a child’s life, and I loved being able to capture some photos that really highlight Kyra’s enthusiasm for dancing.
If you have a child who has a special talent, I’d love to discuss doing a teen dance photography photo session with them, so that you have those memories preserved for years to come. You can check out some more photos of tweens and teens on my portfolio page. I hope you enjoy this glimpse into Kyra’s session.
How exciting for her!! Beautiful photos and of course, she is beautiful!! Congrats Kyra
