Another fun day with Kate for her Metro Detroit Senior Photography portrait session! I knew this session with Kate was going to be fantastic when we met up to plan her session. Kate is a big city girl at heart so we quickly decided downtown Detroit was the place to go for her senior portrait session. I can’t say enough good things about Kate. She attends The International Academy so you know she works hard at school. It was great talking to her about her plans for the future. Many of her top school choices are in big cities. I wonder where she will decide to attend. I know one thing for sure she will work hard and go places!
With Detroit you can get so much diversity in your session. We started our session in Eastern Market. The colors and vibrancy never disappoint. This area is also steeped in history. You can’t help but imagine it back in the bustling 50s and seeing some of the same architecture is so cool, to say the least. We also stopped at the nearby Dequindre Cut. What a comeback that area has made! From there we went to the waterfront. I had been wanted to explore more around the lighthouse and the majestic weeping willows. If was the perfect spot for this native Californian girl. Don’t miss the skyline image at the end of this post! Lastly we went to check out The Belt – coolest alley anywhere! The Belt was hopping with people enjoying this beautiful summer night.
Detroit was looking awesome this evening and so was Kate!

This Rochester Park Senior Portraits! Well, technically we started at the Library since Alyssa is an avid book reader. Alyssa attends the International Academy for High School. It’s a very tough school but also provides great opportunities like travel. She is such a smart an ambitious girl. It was so great to see the way she lit up when talking about books and shared with me the prologue of her current favorite. I could quickly see why the book enthralls her. She has started writing her first novel. I look forward to getting an autographed copy some day not too far off. I’m sure she works hard there! She is also into acting and has performed a few different places in town. This summer Alyssa checked out a few colleges and is already hard at work back at school. I hope she has a fantastic Senior year!
During her session I learned a bit about Dr Who and Harry Potter. At least I had a clue about Harry Potter already. I love how Alyssa came so prepared with props and attire to accent her interests and personality. I learned a few things and we had some good laughs along the way too! Don’t you just love all the water and trails around Rochester?!?
Next, we stopped at the Rochester Municipal Park for a Harry Potter style book break!
Lastly, we stopped by the band shell where Alyssa has been in a few performances.
What is your favorite image(s) from Alyssa’s session? I really love how she made this Rochester Park Senior Portrait session shine with her own style! I look forward to helping Alyssa’s family preserve these images with some great portrait prints and products. Let’s talk about how we can make your senior portrait session unique and show off your personality!
It’s the perfect time of year for Rochester Michigan Senior Photography downtown! It’s great hanging out with seniors in the summer. I love getting a jump on these sessions. Schedules get busy as soon as school is in session and those yearbook photos are due before we know it. McKenzie, her mom and I enjoyed a gorgeous summer night around her hometown of Rochester. Their family does a lot around town so it was the perfect place for her senior portraits. We walked around town then did a loop through the Rochester Municipal Park. I love getting to know these seniors. It’s such a cool time in their life. I love to hear their favorite classes, favorite things outside of school and their plans for the future. McKenzie wants to study nursing. She is sweet, smart and dedicated and I know she is going to be an awesome nurse! I wish her an awesome senior year, filled with a lot of great times and long-lasting memories!
As I said on Facebook, if you know McKenzie you know there has to be a river and a hammock in her senior photo session. Being a kayaker she is right at home in the river.
Lastly, we visited a hidden gem, not far from the park. McKenzie’s family has had a plot at the community garden for a few years so her mom know just where to go for the colorful finale to our session. I love this cheerful fence and we happened to be there right at sunflower season. This sunflower came from the family garden plot.
What are your favorites from McKenzie’s session? I can’t decide! Are you ready for a senior session with pArt of Life Photography that shows off your unique personality? Don’t forget to check out more Rochester Michigan Senior Portrait Sessions.
Kicking of the Class of 2018 senior sessions with a Senior Session in Northern Michigan. Meet Logan, this upcoming Senior at Stoney Creek High School in Rochester. This session is extra special because he is my son and the session took place in northern Michigan. We have been lucky to visit northern Michigan often as we have family there. I’m so glad we captured some of our love fro this place with this northern Michigan photo session. The weather was fantastic for our latest visit and this evening was no exception. It was great to go back to Point Betsie, just south of the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes, where we have spent many hours throwing rocks, flight kites, exploring the paths through the dunes, soaking up the sun and admiring sunsets. It’s great to have a senior session in such a meaningful place.
If you haven’t been to Point Betsie, I highly suggest you check it out and enjoy some time there. Thanks for checking out these images from this Senior Session Northern Michigan. I’m so excited about these images. I can’t wait to have them on my wall and in an album to enjoy for years to come!

Fun senior session with Katie from Rochester Adams High School last week. I photographed Katie around Downtown Rochester for her Senior portraits! Katie is an amazing girl and so much fun to be around! Sweet, beautiful, sporty, smart and so much more! She has a huge heart, a beautiful smile, and beautifuleyes! We had such a fun session from our walk in town to our time along the river to a fun spot by the bridge for some creativity with lighting at sunset. We shared good laughs along the way! Thanks Katie and family for choosing pArt of Life Photography for your Senior Portraits. You will go far, girl! I wish I could share fifty more photos here. It was impossible to just choose a few!

It’s Senior Portrait Season for the Class of 2016! Here’s Alex from Stoney Creek High School. He was a natural right from the start! What a great guy! Smart, good looking with a great smile, hard working, and a cross country runner to name a few things about him. His session was so much fun as we walked around downtown Rochester and made some stops for some photos. We made our way over to the Municipal Park since he runs through there often. I love being able to go to places with meaning to these Seniors. Ok, on to the photos from the evening…
Color or Black and White? I can’t decide!
