I’m so lucky to be the Rochester Michigan family photographer they chose! I had such a great time with these lovely ladies. I have photographed them before and ever since I have wanted to do it again. This summer I had my chance!
We spent a lovely evening together in Oakland Township. We enjoyed the sun glittering through the weeping willow, checked out the farmhouse, out buildings and field of beautiful purple flowers. You’ll see that the purple flowers, and every thing else around for that matter, created the perfect background for these portraits. We shared some laughs. I usually come equipped with corny jokes. Now this lovely mom has images of her lovely daughters that she says, as I would, that she will cherish forever! She totally gets why I do what I do. I love creating images that capture personalities and will bring back sweet memories of a special time in people’s lives. Oh boy, enough of me gushing on, it’s time to share these beautiful images. I will add it was great seeing their emotions as they went through their images for the first time last night.
If I could figure out how to slow down time, I would. But what I can give people is a way to go back in time, even if for a few brief moments each day! I know this family will enjoy that daily with their wall art and custom album. Enjoy the trips down memory lane!
Is it time for me to be your Rochester Michigan family photographer? Of course, if you are not in Rochester that is just fine too. 😉 Here are some of my Rochester Michigan Family Photo Sessions.
Such a fun Detroit Family Photo Session! I just love shooting in Detroit! The city is vibrant these days and it’s feels great to be down there. So many things have changed since my days of in-line skating around the city, but also lots for familiar sites. I was especially excited about this session because I was working with my new light. Mid-day sessions can be really tough to photograph. But we can’t always hide from the sun. We just need a few more tools to help us deal with it and make people look their best. A standard flash is not strong enough on a sunny day, to fill in the shadows that are a result of the strong mid-day sun. Being able to shoot in full sun opens up so many more opportunities and provides us with fun, vibrant images. Note: if you are a geek like me, you would want to know that the light I used is the Godox AD200.
These guys were so great to photograph! Turned out to be a great day for Detroit family photo session. Such sweet guys and up for anything involving exploring Detroit and stopping for some photographs. We started off on a pedestrian over pass to/from Eastern Market. Quite a feeling to be standing over the expressway with the cars and trucks whizzing by below!
Inspired by a ‘monkey’ competition, hanging from the railing earlier…
And this is what you get when you ask for a photo for their future rock band poster…
They were such good sports and we shared a lot of laughs!
We explored more of the city and made a quick stop at the huge library on Cass, after checking out Mid-Town and then the New Center area.
Who’s ready for a fun Detroit family photo session? I know lots of great spots around the city and metro Detroit. Let’s find a spot for your family or high school senior and get a session on the calendar!
Here are a couple more fun sessions that I have done in Detroit. Detroit Photo Session with Michele Maloney Photography, who is also the awesome mom of these three great kids, and Detroit Teen Photo Session and Teen Photo Session Detroit.
Another bright spot every fall is when the H family comes back for their annual Rochester family photo session! I love seeing how the kids have grown (Yes, I can be a little sappy) and how we fall back into joking around and exploring new spots along the way. This year we walked along the Paint Creek Trail along the river and then checked out the Rochester Municipal Park. These two little cuties are so much fun. Their sweet personalities always shine through! They each found some great spots for their photos. It’s fun to put kids in charge of that for part of the session. I loved it when their pups joined in for some photos too.
Their Christmas cards have been designed and delivered and now I’m working on their product order. It’s so great that they can be brought back to this day for years to come with their prints and products. What is your favorite photo-related product? I love custom cards for every holiday season and wall art! Albums for my family are still on my to-do list. I love designing them for clients.
Such a fun Rochester Michigan Photo Session with this little cutie! I have so many great photos to share from her session. Her outfit was perfect for the warm, sunny evening at the farm. For her photo session we visited historic Van Hoosen Farm and Museum in Rochester. If you haven’t been there yet you really should check it out! Beautiful grounds surround the historical farm, complete with a museum on site. Anyway, back to Carly and the fun we had… Could she be any prettier?!? And she’s soooo sweet! Maybe we’ll be seeing her on the big stage or screen one day, as she is already into singing and acting!
Thanks for any comments that you want to leave about Carly’s photo session. Let me know if you are ready to join me for your Rochester area photo session!
WOW! What fun it was at this Detroit Photo Session! Jenny and Thomas were awesome as we toured around Detroit. They are such a fun and cute couple. This shoot came together thanks to my friend Michele, of Michele Maloney Photography. Jenny is Michele’s hairstylist and she volunteered for a photo session so we could try out some new locations and lighting. Thanks Michele, Jenny and Tom! You guys all seriously rock!
We started off in Eastern Market. I just love the history and the architecture there, from the old brick to the refurbished market sheds and the murals. Oh my, the murals! I just love the energy here, even when it’s not buzzing with the hustle of the markets.
After Eastern Market, we went over to the Dequindre Cut, right near by. I love how they have made this accessible for people to enjoy while walking or on wheels. From the areas I’ve seen it’s great with cool benches, nice stone work. I know it’s not great in all areas but I appreciate how far it’s come in the stretches that have been improved so far.
We had to finish off the evening with a cherry on top! Taking in the city scenes, making new memories and rooftop dancing under a gorgeous Detroit sunset!
I’m so glad the last shot came together. I’ve been wanting to shoot more off-camera flash here and the sunset was just divine. I think this last image needs to be printed on a vivid metal print. Don’t you agree? This is also where I photographed my Detroit family photo session last summer.
Who’s ready for their Detroit photo session? There are so many great places to explore from Eastern Market to the Riverwalk. Detroit is making it’s big comeback. Come check out the sites during your own Detroit photo session. There are so many great backdrops for couples, families and high school senior photo sessions. Make the city yours for a night.
